This dramatic painting springs directly from Arnold Friberg's nostalgic memories of his boyhood in the Arizona desert. The sight of grazing cattle was frequent and it was not at all unusual to meeet up with such ranch men as seen in this picture, even sometimes to share their campfire, with horses never far away.
